Syren

Syren aka Lulu Madill will take a one hour work-shop on Electronic Music Production, how to build a song on Ableton Live fusing cinematic Sound Design elements and Sound mixing techniques.

Behind the SYREN sound is Lulu Madill Darwin based electronic music producer, vocalist and sound engineer. Syren has just won best Pop at the 2014 NT Song Of The Year Awards for songwriting.  Like her namesake, SYREN’s music takes her listeners with her to the depths of the soul. One cannot appreciate her enchanting voice from afar, and is drawn to go on a journey carried by the power of sound. SYREN does this by creating a techno-mythical platform, enabling the journey that simultaneously mirrors the natural world and listener’s mind. Syren’s live performance includes dreamy vocals, textured water beats and desert guitar sounds, Harp and singing strings. All this is enriched by live visuals by collaborator and film maker Timothy Parish AKA Verb.
Inspired by a diverse blend of Artist such as Portishead, Fever Ray and Björk. SYREN’s sound is a blend of enchanting vocals, soulful Trip step rhythms, live electronic instrumentation, crunchy beats, undulating Dubstep bass lines all create an aural journey, nourishing our inner nature.
Syren’s five track debut EP  ‘A Feather To The Sea’, mixed by Benjamin Last (Reel Spirit Studios) was released in summer 2013. It evokes a sensorial journey of the natural world through enchanting lyrics, live electronic instrumentation.  Syren has toured the show to music festivals around Australia, performing main stage at Wide Open Spaces Alice Springs, Strawberry Fields 2013, Regrowth Festival 2014 Sydney, Rainbow Serpent , Earth Frequency in 2014.
